A long cradle combed the whole way round its outer wall in close raised ribs, low and notched at one end and rising to a tall wall at the other, its rim torn into a ragged skyline that never repeats along its run. Blue holds at both ends and passes through a violet haze into a yellow-green pool where the near wall turns under itself, all under a soft frosted finish. Nothing is supplied under it, and the cradle rests on the curve of its own underside.
The ribs follow the movement of the form rather than a grid. On the tall wall they rise almost upright into the torn rim, and as the wall turns down into the belly they bend over and run along its length, so the outer surface reads as though it had been combed in a single stroke. Inside, the ribs carry up the face of the low end, while the floor of the trough is left smooth. The finish is frosted rather than polished, which lets the blue, violet and yellow-green melt into one another and keeps each rib crisp without glare. The torn rim crosses the ribs at a different height each time, which stops the piece resolving into a regular pattern when it is seen from across a room.
It belongs on a long sideboard or a console, and the open side should face the room rather than an end. Light from above suits the frosted surface, which catches it along every rib and glows softly instead of flaring. A pale surface underneath carries the yellow-green further than a dark one. Walking past it, the ribs on the tall wall seem to turn as the angle changes; standing still, they settle into a fixed comb.
Once ordered, a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke one 5–6. On commission the blue can be run further down the walls, the yellow-green replaced by a single tint, and the rim cut to a quieter profile. The cradle can be cast at other spans, with the rib count set to the run instead of held at this one. The violet haze between the blue and the yellow-green can be strengthened or taken out without altering the blue, and the frosted finish can be polished to a gloss where a clearer, brighter surface is wanted. It ships resting on its underside in a single crate with the rim packed clear, and two people should place it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Combed in close ribs under a frosted skin, this torn-rimmed cradle sits with our art furniture, our organic sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
