Blue & Gold Scooped Wave Resin Sculpture - 55cm, a curved milky blue resin wave with white drifts and gold-toned flecks, gold-painted base, on a dark square stand against a plain white background.
Blue & Gold Scooped Wave Resin Sculpture - 55cm $2,03600
Description

A curved sheet of milky blue resin that rises to a single tall peak, drawn out at one end into a long pointed wing and turning back in a deep curve at the other, with a small notch on the slope below the summit. White drifts are swept across the blue and fine gold-toned flecks are scattered through it, and the whole foot, where the sheet gathers, is painted gold, its upper edge broken and ragged. A brushed dark steel block is included.

The Brightest Thing Is at the Bottom

Putting the gold at the foot of a pale object rather than along its rim is the less obvious of the two choices and the better one here. Gold along the top edge would compete with the peak and the long wing, which carry the whole movement of the sheet and want nothing else happening near them. At the bottom it does the opposite job: a soft blue sheet on a dark block has almost nothing to anchor it, and a band of gold where the two meet gives the piece a visible weight exactly where it gathers. The ragged upper edge keeps the band from reading as a ruled stripe, and the flecks scattered higher up carry a little of the gold into the blue. The brushed steel is chosen against a polish for the same reason, since a bright block would return the gold and double it.

Put it below eye level rather than on it, so the gold band reads as a base and not as a stripe across the middle. An overhead source runs down the face of the sheet and finds the gold where it gathers at the foot. A dark surface swallows the brushed block and leaves the sheet hanging in the air; a pale one gives it back. Give it a console, a sideboard or the end of a broad desk, with room for the long wing to reach out to one side.

The Gold Foot, Widths and Delivery

Build times separate standard from bespoke: 3–4 weeks against 5–6. A deeper cobalt or a softer blue can be chosen, the white drifts thinned or left out, and the steel finished bright instead of brushed where a harder contrast is wanted, though a polished block then returns the gold and doubles it. The sheet can also be made at another width, with the gold foot following whatever span it gives. Its crate is fitted round the sheet with the wing and the peak boxed clear, and the piece is lifted from beneath, never by either point. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Painted gold where it gathers and peaked like a blue swell, this sheet looks across to our stainless steel sculptures, our organic sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
