Blue & Clear Ribbon Swirl Wave on Plinth Resin Sculpture, 190cm, a swirling water-ribbon form on a tall black marble plinth, set against a plain light grey background.
Blue & Clear Ribbon Swirl Wave on Plinth Resin Sculpture - 190cm $4,34900
Description

This sculpture is a ribbon of water thrown upward in a whirl and raised on a tall, square plinth of black marble. From a narrow foot two strands climb and part to leave an upright oval loop, one strand fringed with a little spray of points. Above the loop the water widens into a rippled band that sweeps right round in a broad swirl, its edge torn into points and pierced by a small round opening. At the top it gathers into a crest that sends out two fine tendrils, one hooking away to the side with a drip at its end, the other reaching straight up. Blue gathers most densely in the foot and the loop, softens across the swirl and is gone by the tendrils, which are clear.

A Blue Ribbon Whirling Up From an Open Loop

Cast in clear resin tinted blue, the piece is built from long, rippled strands that run with the movement of the water, so every turn of the swirl is lined with fine ribs and each rib carries its own streak of brightness. The colour is graded rather than banded: dense and saturated where the strands gather at the foot, paler where the band opens out and absent from the crest, so the water seems to lose its depth as it is flung higher. The open loop is what gives the form its lift. Because the swirl rises out of two slender strands, daylight shows beneath its broadest part, and the whole movement seems to spring from a single point on the stone.

Raised on its plinth, the swirl needs floor space in an entrance hall, a hotel reception or a broad landing above the stairs, where people can walk round it and watch the loop and the swirl shift against each other. At 190cm with its plinth, it holds the crest and its tendrils just above the eye of a standing visitor, where a high window or a ceiling lamp catches the clear tips. A plain pale wall behind it keeps the blue clean, and a spotlight angled from one side runs a bright line along each ripple. Indoor use only.

Deeper Blue, Longer Tendrils and the Crate

Ours is a 3–4 week build as standard, and a 5–6 week build when the commission is bespoke. The order is the swirl and its plinth together, sold individually. Commissioned, the blue can be taken deeper and carried further up into the swirl, or kept to the loop at the foot, and the two tendrils can be drawn out longer or curled in more tightly; another stone, or another height, can be chosen for the plinth. The sculpture travels upright in a padded crate with each tendril braced, the plinth in a crate of its own, and it is seated on the plinth once both have been unpacked. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A blue ribbon of water whirling up from an open loop to two clear tendrils belongs with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
