Blue & Clear Overhanging Curl Wave Resin Sculpture, 71cm, with cobalt blue deepening to pale azure and spraying fingers, on a black base against a plain white background.
Blue & Clear Overhanging Curl Wave Resin Sculpture - 71cm $2,02600
Description

Cobalt blue gathers in the foot of this wave and climbs its left flank, thinning to a pale azure as the curl arches over the top. At the far end the tip breaks into a spray of fingers that hang down, and below them a second spray lifts its own fingers towards them, the two held apart by a narrow space of air. Both sprays clear to colourless resin at their fingertips, and a small curling arm with a forked end sits between them.

Cobalt at the Foot, Clear at the Fingertips

Colour and form are planned together here. The blue is densest where the wave is heaviest, in the swell at its foot, and it lightens steadily up the long flank and across the arch, so the colour seems to drain upwards out of the water. By the time the curl breaks into fingers there is almost none left, and the fingertips, the hanging ones and the raised ones alike, are untinted. That frames the meeting point of the two sprays in clear resin against the blue, which is what draws the eye to it. Every surface is finished glossy, so the azure picks up a highlight along each ripple.

With its black marble block it stands 71cm, which suits a console in a hallway or a long, low cabinet in a living room, and brings the fingertips close to eye level. Against a white or pale grey wall the blue reads at its strongest, and morning sun from one side lifts the azure in the arch and glints on the clear tips. Square to the room it shows the whole curl; edge-on it becomes a slim stroke of blue. Indoor use only.

Depth of Blue, the Space Between the Sprays and Delivery

Set aside 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The price is for one wave with its marble block, sold individually. On commission the cobalt can be carried higher into the fingers or held down in the foot, deepened towards navy or softened to a sky blue, and the opening between the two sprays set closer or wider; the block itself can be cut in another stone. The wave is crated upright with the curl and every finger padded, its marble goes in a separate box, and it is lifted onto the block once both are unpacked. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Blue water paling to clear fingertips, as one spray hangs over another rising beneath it, leads into our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
