Blue & Clear Filament Split Disc Resin Sculpture, 36cm, a split circular form with blue-tinted curves and white filament details, shown on a plain white background.
Blue & Clear Filament Split Disc Resin Sculpture - 36cm $2,15800
Description

A clear resin disc, split from the top edge by a deep, rounded slot. The two halves rise from one solid body and part as they climb, so a clear gap opens between them at the top. A band of blue curves round inside the cup just above the point where they join, while the tops of both halves stay almost colourless. Below it the resin clouds to a smoky grey, with fine white filaments and black threads drifting right through the material and a darker plume rising from the foot. No base comes with it and the disc stands on the flat it is cast with.

Two Halves Rising From One Solid Body

Splitting a disc and drawing the halves apart gives it two characters at once: below the slot it is one solid, weighty body, and above it two slender halves stand clear of each other. The colour is set against that division. The blue gathers in a band that sweeps through the cup a little above the join, so the deepest tint sits where the halves meet the solid body, while their tops are left almost clear. Beneath the band the filaments take over, white strands and fine black threads crossing one another through the body and running up into both halves, which ties the split form back together.

A desk, a shelf or a window ledge suits it, and a ledge is best of the three because everything this piece does depends on light arriving from behind. Set against a wall the gap closes up visually and the filaments go dark. It wants a few centimetres of clearance on both sides so the split reads as a gap rather than a shadow. The split runs right through the body, so a light behind it comes out between the two halves as a bright line the rest of the disc has nothing to answer with.

Filaments, Spans and Delivery

The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. The filaments are drawn denser or left out, the blue is carried down to the foot instead of held in its band, and the split is opened wider. The disc is cast at other diameters, and the split is placed to the size instead of held where it is. The resin can also be tinted in another colour, and the filament work reads quite differently under each tint. Where a quieter object is wanted the filaments are drawn sparsely through the floor alone. One box takes it, supported beneath the foot rather than against the halves, and it is lifted out the same way, from below. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A disc opened along its own line is organic sculpture; the filaments are trapped in resin sculpture; and a form meant to be lit from behind is indoor sculpture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
