In this cast resin and fibreglass side table a matt black trumpet, a wide shallow disc on a flaring stem, plunges into a clear resin teardrop, and the black cone seems to hang within the drop instead of resting on it. The teardrop is the whole of the base and there is no foot under it.
The teardrop is cast solid and ground back to its curve, then polished from a coarse grade through to a mirror, and the stem of the top is set into it before the material closes over, so no collar shows at the meeting. The black top is built up in fibreglass and finished matt, which is what keeps it from repeating in the drop below it. The underside of the disc is finished to the same grade as the face, since a table at seat height is looked up into from the chair beside it. The teardrop is finished flat where it meets the floor, which is the only part of the piece that is not a curve.
At 50cm this stands at seat height beside a chair and will take a lamp or a drink, and the black disc hides marks that a clear top would show. The drop only reads where something bright sits behind it; against a dark wall it flattens to an outline and half of what it does is gone. It is heavy at the base, which makes it steady but awkward to shift once it is down.
Standard pieces take 3–4 weeks and bespoke commissions 5–6. The teardrop base is the slow part. Choose three things when you order. Other disc finishes are available and a pale stone can replace the black, a tint can be run into the drop, and the diameter of the top is set by you. Just name the top diameter and the overall height. Several ordered together are worked so that the shape of the teardrop agrees. The black disc rim and the teardrop foot are boxed away from the crate wall, and two people set it down with a hand under the drop. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A black trumpet plunged into a clear drop gives our art furniture a side table; the teardrop shares the language of our organic sculptures, and the clear casting that of our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
