Black Timber Trumpet Top Clear Acrylic Teardrop Table, 50cm, with matte black disc and stem set into a clear acrylic teardrop base, on a plain white background.
Black Timber Trumpet Top Clear Acrylic Teardrop Table - 50cm $3,24000
Description

In this timber and acrylic side table a matt black timber trumpet, a flat round disc on a flaring stem, sinks deep into a clear acrylic teardrop, and the black cone looks held within the drop rather than resting on it, as if lowered into water. The teardrop is the whole of the base.

A Black Timber Cone Inside a Clear Drop

The drop is worked back to its curve and brought up through the grades until it mirrors, and the stem of the top is bedded into it while the material is still open, so the meeting leaves no mark. The timber cone is turned from one piece and finished matt black: a gloss on the top would repeat in the drop below it and the two forms would run together. The face underneath gets the same grades as the top, since a table this low is looked at from below by anyone in the chair beside it.

At 50cm it is at the height of a chair arm and will take a lamp or a drink, and the timber top hides marks a clear one would show. Light has to reach the drop from behind or beside it, or the clear form closes up and reads as a dark mass under the timber. It is heavy at the base, which makes it steady but slow to move once it is placed.

The Timber, the Acrylic, and the Other Tops

Reckon on 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke one. Most of it is the wooden trumpet. Three points are open. The timber is chosen from what is in stock at order, the top is offered in a painted finish instead, and the acrylic drop can be tinted. You name the top diameter and the drop height. Several ordered together are worked so that the fall of the stem into the drop agrees. The disc edge and the drop point are boxed away from the crate wall, and the crate is built round the drop rather than round the top. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A black timber cone dropped into clear acrylic sits with our acrylic sculptures; by an armchair it joins our art furniture, and the teardrop our organic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
