Black Timber Disc Acrylic Low Table on Three Ovoids - 90cm $11,27300
Description

A black timber disc rests on three clear ovoids. The disc is stained near-black, with the grain still readable through the colour, and three circular openings are cut through it. Each opening sits directly over one of the ovoids, so looking down you see into the top of a clear egg form, and looking from a seat you see three of them carrying a dark disc.

Three Openings Over Three Clear Ovoids

Setting a flat disc on three curved forms is a locating problem rather than a load one. An ovoid has no flat, so each one is seated into a shallow dished recess cut into the underside of the disc, and the three recesses have to be cut to the ovoids that will actually go into them - the forms vary by a few millimetres and a recess cut to a nominal radius leaves the table rocking on two of three. The openings are then cut concentric with the recesses, which is what makes the view down onto each ovoid look deliberate rather than approximate. The timber is stained rather than painted so the grain stays visible, and the cut edges of the openings are sealed, since an end grain in a stained top will otherwise drink.

Nothing on this table sticks out: the top is round and all three feet sit within its outline, which makes it easy to live with somewhere people walk past it all day. It stands at cushion height. The three ovoids catch and hold whatever light is in the room, so it does more in a room with a lamp low down than in one lit from the ceiling. On a pale floor the eggs read bright and the disc reads as a shadow above them.

The Ovoids, the Timber, and Bringing It In

Whether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The timber and its stain are both specified with the order, and a clear or coloured acrylic disc can replace the timber if you would rather see through the whole table. The openings can be left out for a solid top. The disc and the three ovoids travel separately - the ovoids are the heavy part and each is crated on its own - and the disc is lowered onto them on site, locating in its recesses without fixings. Two people are wanted for the disc. Nothing wider than the disc has to come through a door, and the ovoids will go through anything. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Three openings over three clear ovoids belong with our acrylic sculptures; a black disc set on egg forms leads to our organic sculptures, and a low table with nothing sticking out joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
