This acrylic sculpture is a black form modelled as heavy fabric caught mid-movement: it falls from an upper edge, gathers at one side into a knot, and flares out below to reach the floor. The whole surface is worked in fine vertical ribs, which run with the fall of the cloth and bunch where it gathers. It stands against a clear acrylic frame that outlines it from behind, and the frame lights along its edges, drawing a fine line of light round the black form after dark.
Ribs on a form that changes direction are the difficulty. A rib has to follow the surface it sits on, so where the cloth turns and gathers, the ribs have to crowd together without merging into a single mass, and where it falls straight they have to stay parallel over the whole drop. Get that wrong and the piece reads as a striped object rather than as fabric. The gloss black then doubles the demand, because a black gloss shows the form entirely through its highlights: every rib is read as a line of light, and one rib out of true is visible from across a room. The frame behind is colourless and left plain so it draws the outline and nothing else.
A dark form against a clear frame wants a pale wall to read against, and it wants to stand where the light comes from one side rather than overhead, since the ribs are read by their highlights. On a plinth it comes up to standing eye level; on the floor of a hall it reads as a figure. Give it space in front: the flare at the foot is the widest part and the knot only registers once you can see round it. A dark wall closes the whole thing up.
Expect 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks where the commission is bespoke. Scale is the main variable and the piece is made to whatever size the position wants. Rib pitch can be opened for a bolder surface or closed for a finer one, and the black is offered in a matt finish where the highlights are too busy. A tint can be put into the frame, and the frame is also offered with a lit edge. The frame can be left off entirely. Form and frame travel as two items and are brought together on site, which keeps the frame's edges out of harm's way. The form is a two-person handling job, taken at the base rather than the knot. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Cloth gathered into a knot and held there belongs with our acrylic sculptures; ribs that bunch where the fall gathers lead to our organic sculptures, and a black form in a lit frame joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
