Black Packed Branch Resin Sculpture - 43cm by Giant Sculptures, dark bark-on branches encased in resin with two bare honey-gold timber branches, shown against a plain white background.
Black Packed Branch Resin Sculpture - 43cm $7,96500
Description

This block is filled edge to edge with dark bark-on branches, packed tightly enough that almost no resin shows between them and the whole block reads black from across a room. Two slender branches have been peeled back to bare honey-gold timber and stand among the dark ones, and they are the only light on the piece.

Branches Packed Until the Block Reads Black

Density is the whole story here. Branches are packed in until the resin between them is barely visible, and the effect is a solid dark mass with a faint internal structure, nearer to a slab of charcoal than to a clear case with objects inside. Close to, the branches resolve: bark textures, knots, and the crossings where one leans over another. The two peeled branches are the design decision on the piece, because without them the block would read as one flat dark rectangle.

At 43cm the top sits at a useful height for a lamp and a book together. It is a very dark piece and it needs a pale setting: against white plaster or limestone it reads as a black monolith, while against a dark wall it disappears and the two gold branches are all that survives. Light from the side is what brings the bark textures out. Indoor use only.

Why This Block Costs What It Does

Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. Its price reflects the filling. A single log section is one piece of timber positioned once; a block packed this tightly is a great many separate branches, each of which has to be cut to length, sorted for diameter and placed so it leans against its neighbours without leaving a gap that would read as a void in a dark block. That is hours rather than minutes, and it is why the price sits where it does. Density can be specified looser, which brings the cost down and turns the piece into a transparent block with branches in it, a different object entirely. The number of peeled branches is set at order, from none for a solid black block to four or five for a much lighter piece. It is heavy for its size and needs two people from the crate to the floor in one go. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Branches packed this densely belong with our organic sculptures; for other dark castings browse our resin sculptures, and for blocks read as pure mass our abstract sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
