Black Marked Timber Clear Resin Block Table - 40cm
Black Marked Timber Clear Resin Block Table - 40cm $3,57500
Description

This block table is a squared timber section standing on end and held in clear resin on every face. The timber is a strong golden brown, and across it run broad black markings that branch and taper as they travel down the faces, no two faces carrying the same arrangement. The resin margin around the timber is even and colourless, so from a pace away the block reads as a solid graphic panel rather than as a piece of wood.

Black Markings Read Through a Clear Case

The black markings are the object and they are worth looking at closely. They are broad at the top of each face and taper as they run down, branching once or twice, and where two markings pass close the golden timber between them narrows to a bright line. No two faces carry the same arrangement, so the block reads as four different panels depending which way it is turned. The clear margin around the timber is even, and at the arrises it picks up light as a bright edge, which frames each face and separates the markings from the room behind. Every section gives a different figure.

At 40cm it sits next to a low chair, holds a lamp, or takes a sitter at a push. The markings differ on every face, so it is worth turning it and choosing which face is presented before it is set down. A pale wall lets the black read; against a dark one the golden timber carries instead. It is heavy for its size. Indoors only.

Which Section Goes In, and the Margin Around It

From order, a standard piece runs to 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission to 5–6. The timber is the slow part. Three things are settled at order. Which section goes in is the first decision, and the studio shows the selected stock before work starts because markings of this kind cannot be specified precisely, only asked for. The margin around it is second, from this even border out to a wide one that leaves the timber apparently floating. And the top, where the end grain can show or be covered. Both the plan and the height are yours to set. The black markings are matched only when the pieces are made as one order. In transit the four cased faces must be boxed away from the sides; one person to set it down. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Golden timber held in a clear case links this block to our resin sculptures; its graphic black markings suit our abstract sculptures, and its use as a table our art furniture.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
