A split log is cased in clear resin as a block. The log is not a whole round: it is opened out, so a broad band of timber faces the front, pale cream sapwood at each side of a dark olive heartwood stripe, with the bark standing on both flanks, black and coarsely ridged. The clear resin runs the full height on both sides of the bark and caps the sawn end at the top, and the corners of the block are solid clear material.
The composition is almost symmetrical. The heartwood runs up the middle as a dark olive stripe with a straight grain, and a band of pale cream sapwood rises on each side of it, the whole timber face narrowing slightly as it climbs. On either side the bark stands as a near-black wall, its surface split into upright ridges that hold their own shadows. Because the clear resin fills in behind those ridges, the bark reads as a pair of dark screens suspended in the block rather than as the skin of a log. The two sapwood bands are the brightest thing in the piece and the eye goes to them first. The sawn end at the top shows the same three materials in section - bark, sapwood, heart - laid out as a stripe, which is the clearest explanation of the object anywhere on it.
At 45cm this is a side table or a plinth, and the flat capped top takes a lamp or a small piece without a mat. The symmetry means it can face a room squarely, so it suits a position between two chairs or at the centre of a hearth. Light it from the front for the sapwood and from low to one side for the bark ridges; overhead light does least for it. On a dark floor the clear corners vanish and the two bark walls look free-standing. Indoor use only.
Figure the difference between standard and bespoke at 3–4 weeks against 5–6. The opening is the choice: split to show one broad face of sapwood and heartwood as here, quartered to show two narrower ones at a corner, or left as a whole round, which hides the heart altogether and makes a much darker object. Bark that stands this proud has to be stabilised before casting and it is the part of the work that takes the time, so a fully barked block is the longer lead and a stripped one the quicker. The square itself can be cut broader or narrower to order. The cap over the sawn end can be clear as here or brought down flush to the wood, which lets the end grain be touched at the cost of the sealed look. Species and figure come from stock and are signed off before cutting. It ships in one crate on a pallet, needs no assembly, and is a two-person lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Its near-symmetry and squared clear casing suit our abstract sculptures; a split log showing bark, sapwood and heart sits naturally in our organic sculptures, and the high-clarity block in our resin sculptures.

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
