A rock rising to a fine crown from a broad foot cut level beneath it. It is near-black low down and colourless at the crown, with the change spread across the whole middle of the rock. Nothing is supplied with it, and the rock meets the floor on a foot cut level for the purpose.
Standing on its own foot means the darkest material is also the thickest, so the rock is at its heaviest exactly where the eye expects a shadow. The run has to finish before the rock does, so where the black gives out is drawn before anything else about the piece is. The graduation is in the body and not on it, which is why the crown looks thin and the foot looks solid when both are the same thickness of material. Rough from foot to crown, with the material taken finer as it rises.
A console suits it, or a wide shelf, with the pale crown above the eye. A pale ground behind it: the foot is the darkest part and it needs somewhere to end. Light from above runs down through the clear crown and stops where the black begins, which is the whole effect. At a distance it is a dark shape with a bright top; the working arrives at about two paces.
Time separates the two: a bespoke commission takes 5–6 weeks, a standard piece 3–4. If you would rather the black carried higher, that is set before casting, and the rock can be made at another height. Carry the dark further up and the crown is drawn deeper above it, so there is still somewhere for the run to finish. A single crate, and it stands as it comes out. Two people to get it out; one can move it afterwards. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A rock graded from near-black to clear belongs to our organic sculptures; the rock's dark foot joins our resin sculptures, and it stands out on a pale wall among our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
