Barked Log Core Molten Clear Resin Stool, 40cm, showing a bark-covered trunk section with pale cut-end top, cased in rippled clear resin against a plain white background.
Barked Log Core Molten Clear Resin Stool - 40cm $4,25200
Description

This stool is a section of barked trunk cased in clear resin, the log's cut end showing on top as a pale ringed disc and its dark bark seen all the way round through the clear sides. The outer resin surface is worked into a rippled, molten form rather than left as a smooth block.

A Barked Log Inside a Molten Skin

The log is dried and stabilised before anything is poured, and its bark is left on and consolidated in place rather than cleaned back, which is what allows it to be read in the round through the resin. The molten outer form is modelled into the mould, so the ripples run over the arrises without stopping at them. The top is worked flat across the resin and the log's cut end at once, bringing two materials of different hardness to one plane and one sheen. Every outer surface is brought to a gloss including the base, and the foot is faced flat so the stool stands without packing.

At 40cm this is a stool for a hall, a bathroom or the end of a bed, and it takes an adult sitting or a tray standing. The bark is read through the sides, so it wants light from across the room rather than above it, and it is worth turning to the face of the log you prefer before it is set down. It is heavy for its size, which makes it steady but awkward to shift.

The Log, the Molten Outside, and the Wait

Set aside 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. Most of it is the barked log. Three things can change. The log is chosen from what is in stock at order, the molten outside is worked coarser or brought closer to a smooth block, and a tint is taken through the resin. You give the seat width and the seat height. The group is made as one so that the bark line round the log reads the same on each piece. The log end and the rippled sides travel padded and clear of the walls, and the crate is packed so the seat face bears nothing. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A barked log in a molten clear skin gives our art furniture a stool; the log answers our organic sculptures, the rippled casing our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
