Description

A youth reclines while seven women attend him, one with a lyre, others carrying ewers towards a shallow water basin. A fluted pilaster closes the left edge and gives the scene an architectural setting rather than an open ground.

Wall Sculpture Worked in Warm Sedimentary Stone

The stone here is not marble: it is a warm ochre sedimentary stone with an open granular texture and no crystalline sparkle, which holds a matte surface rather than a polish. That suits a classical scene, because the light sits evenly across the figures instead of glinting off them. The stone runs a warm beige right through its depth, so a chipped arris shows the same colour as the face.

Warm ochre stone suits rooms with timber, brick or lime plaster already in them: a farmhouse hall, a library, a garden room, a wine room or a sheltered loggia. It looks wrong against cool white plaster, which fights the buff of the stone. Outdoors it weathers to a deeper tone and is best on a south or west facing wall.

Weight, Fixing and the Matte Surface

Five weeks. The granular stone cuts faster than marble but bruises more easily, so the finishing is slower and done with abrasives rather than a chisel. Panel size is open, and the fluted pilaster at the edge can be repeated on both sides to make the composition symmetrical. The figure group is not altered. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops. Roughly 233kg, crated flat, and it takes concealed plates; the stone is soft enough that oversized washers are used behind them.

Comparable figure carving is in figure wall art, and the warm-stone pieces sit with the wall sculptures.

Every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of destination.

  • Sculptures under 50cm — shipped by air freight. Typical delivery 1–2 weeks after production is complete.
  • Sculptures 50cm and above — shipped by sea freight. Typical delivery 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

For larger sculptures where faster delivery is needed, air freight is available at additional cost — contact us before ordering for a quote.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

30-Day Returns

We accept 30-day returns on sculptures in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

To start a return, contact us within 30 days of receipt. Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is at the customer's cost.

Bespoke and custom-commissioned pieces are non-refundable once production has started, as they are made specifically to your specification.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
