Aqua Melt Form Resin Bench (140cm) by Giant Sculptures, a flat-topped aqua blue resin bench with sculpted, melting column-like base, shown on a plain white background.
Aqua Melt Form Resin Bench - 140cm $10,05800
Description

This bench is cast in a strong aqua resin and carries no legs. The seat is flat and square-edged, level and polished, and reads as a plain slab from above. Beneath it the same mass drops away into a run of vertical folds and rounded columns that reach the floor, so the underside is fully modelled and the piece is one solid form rather than a top on a frame.

A Strong Aqua Carried Through a Solid Mass

Colour is what this piece is for. The aqua is saturated and even, carried in the material rather than on it, and because the mass under the seat varies so much the same pigment reads a dozen ways at once: brilliant and almost pale at a thin fold, deep and nearly turquoise where two columns meet, and darkest in the hollows behind them. Above, the seat is one uninterrupted plane and its edge shows the material's full depth as a clean band. The contrast between that hard band and the loose folds below it is the whole composition. There are seven or eight folds across the length, unequal in width and reaching the floor at different points, and a shallow scallop runs along the front where two of them meet. Every one is worked, so the arrangement belongs to the piece.

It stands at seat height, and its depth takes two people comfortably or works as a long low table in front of seating. The colour makes it a piece that has to be placed rather than fitted in: against a pale wall and a pale floor it is the only thing in the room with any depth of tone, and in a strongly coloured room it fights. A hallway, a garden room, the foot of a bed or a wide landing all suit it. The modelled underside means it should be seen from the side, not pushed hard against a wall, and it wants no rug beneath it. Indoor use only.

Depth of Colour, Length and What a Solid Bench Weighs

The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. The strength of the aqua is the first decision and it changes the object completely: at full saturation as here it is a colour piece, and at a quarter of that it becomes a clear bench with a tint and the folds do all the work instead. A green, an amber and a smoke grey are all made at any strength. Length is made to order, and on the longest benches the studio adds a further column under the middle, which is worth knowing because it shows. Seat depth can be brought in for a hall where the full depth would block the walking line. The folds can be run in a regular rhythm or left irregular as here. It travels in one crate on a purpose-built pallet, needs four people because a solid cast bench of this size is heavier than it looks, and there is nothing to assemble on arrival. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A solid aqua bench melting into folds below sits in our art furniture; the poured underside belongs with our organic sculptures, and the saturated casting with our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
