Aqua Looped Scholar's Rock Resin Sculpture, 150cm, with two large open loops joined by a twisted aqua resin column on a black marble base, set against a plain white background.
Aqua Looped Scholar's Rock Resin Sculpture - 150cm $7,22300
Description

This resin scholar's rock stands on a marble block that comes with it. The material closes into two great loops, one above the other, so most of the outline is void: a wide upper ring and a second below it, joined by a twisted column of material at the middle. The body is a clear aqua throughout, deepest through the twisted column.

Two Great Loops, One Above the Other

A form that closes completely is rare, and this one does it twice. The upper loop is the wider and its inner edge is almost circular, which at this scale reads as a deliberate aperture rather than as erosion. Below it the material gathers, twists through about a quarter turn, and opens again into a second loop set at a different angle, so the two apertures never line up and the piece frames two separate views of whatever is behind it. The surface is rippled in broad folds along both loops and pinched tight where they meet, and the whole object is polished, so each fold carries a highlight that runs as you move. The aqua is carried in the material and it is unequal: nearly clear along the thin inner edges of both loops, and a full blue-green through the twisted column, which weights the middle of a form that is otherwise mostly air.

At 150cm on its block it stands best on the floor, where its upper loop meets the eye. A hallway, an entrance hall, a gallery, a showroom or a wide landing all suit it, and it is at its best where it can be walked past rather than approached head on, since the two loops open different views as you move. It needs clear floor round the block and something plain behind, and daylight behind it rather than in front is what fills the apertures. Set against a wall it loses both loops at once, which is most of the object. Indoor use only.

The Loops, the Aqua and What Carries It

Production takes approximately 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke commission. The loops are the decision: two as here, or one for a considerably simpler and much stronger object, or three, which the studio builds only at a greater height. Their diameters and the angle between them are set at order and it is worth deciding from the position, since the whole point is what they frame. On colour: this aqua is standard, with a green, an amber, a smoke grey and a colourless version all made, and the depth adjustable so the thin edges can be brought to nearly clear or the whole body run even. The marble block is part of the order, and a pedestal can be made to stand it on, on request. It travels standing in a purpose-built crate with both loops braced across their spans, needs a wide clear route, and takes four people. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Two great loops of aqua one above the other belong with our abstract sculptures; a twisted column joining two apertures sets it among our organic sculptures, and blue-green deepest through the column suits our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
