Aqua Frosted Scholar's Rock Resin Sculpture, 128cm, a pierced organic form grading from aqua at the top to white below, on a black marble base against a plain light background.
Aqua Frosted Scholar's Rock Resin Sculpture - 128cm $3,64500
Description

The frosted mass of this resin sculpture comes with a shallow block of black marble. It is broad and shallow front to back, so it presents as a broad upright screen rather than a compact lump. Openings run through it at every level, a dozen or more of them, and the colour is graded: a pale aqua holds the crown and thins out downwards until the foot is almost white.

A Pierced Screen Graded From Aqua to White

The whole surface is frosted, and that is what separates this from a clear casting. Nothing on it is glossy, so it does not throw a highlight anywhere, and the object holds a soft even light that makes the openings read as flat shapes rather than as holes with edges. The mass is genuinely thin front to back, and the piercings crowd towards the top where the material spreads wide, then thin out down the stem, so there is a lot of hole and very little solid at head height and the opposite at the foot. Where two openings nearly meet the material narrows to a finger's width. The aqua is strongest across the top third and fades rather than stopping at a line.

At 128cm on the block this stands on a floor and reads at standing eye level, which is the right height for it, since a piece with this much hole in it wants something to look through to. A hallway, a landing, a study or a wide corner all work, and a plinth is optional rather than needed. What it does need is depth of field: a wall close behind it turns the openings into dark patches, whereas open space or a window behind them makes them the subject. It is wide, so allow for that on a landing or beside a stair. Indoor use only.

Frosting, Piercing Density and the Aqua Gradient

It takes 3–4 weeks to make as standard, and 5–6 weeks to make bespoke. Three things are specified. The frosting can be taken off in favour of a clear finish, which changes the object completely, and a half-and-half version is made where the crown is frosted and the stem clear. The piercing density is set at order, from the open field here to a tighter one with fewer but broader openings, which suits a room where the piece is seen against a busy background. And the gradient can be reversed, so the colour is held at the foot and the crown runs white, or dropped for a single even tone. Aqua is standard, with a pale green and a smoke grey both made. Its block is black marble and shallow. The sculpture and its block travel in one case, standing, with the openings packed out individually, and it is a two-person lift and a two-person placement because the width makes it awkward rather than heavy. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A frosted screen pierced at every level belongs with our abstract sculptures; openings crowding where the mass spreads join it to our organic sculptures, and pale aqua clearing toward a white foot suits our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
