A compact abstract cast in aqua resin, the colour of shallow sea water. From a slender foot the body swings upward in a double curve and throws a rippled crest across the top, finishing in a point, with a fin angled away from the body just above the foot. The aqua runs through the whole casting, turning a deep turquoise in the folds and a pale sea-glass tone at the edges. Black marble is supplied beneath it.
Aqua sits between blue and green, and in a polished casting it shifts with the light of the room: cool and blue by day, greener under a warm lamp. The tint is even through the resin, so the variation comes from the form, turquoise where the body folds over on itself and pale where crest and fin run out to an edge. Every face takes a high gloss, and the crest in particular holds a run of highlights along its ripples. Nothing is applied to the surface that could wear.
It suits a bathroom shelf, a kitchen dresser or a desk by a window, anywhere a small piece of colour is wanted. Plants and white tiles flatter it, while beside red or orange it turns loud. Daylight at one side makes the aqua bright, and a spotlight straight on flattens it. It is at home with glass, pale stone and bleached timber.
The standard build is 3–4 weeks and the bespoke build 5–6. The aqua can be pushed towards green or towards blue, or the gloss exchanged for a soft frosted satin. A white marble block is offered in place of the black one. Clear, graded blue, emerald, gloss black and ink-in-clear versions of the same form are sold separately, as is the first of the family, black marbled into white. Boxed with its stone, it can be carried and set down by one person. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Turquoise resin of this sea-water shade is gathered in our resin sculptures, the swinging double curve belongs with our organic sculptures, and small pieces to brighten a room are in our indoor sculptures.
