Amethyst Leaning Torso Cast Resin Sculpture - 61cm by Giant Sculptures, pale violet textured resin torso leaning horizontally on a black marble base, set against a plain white background.
Amethyst Leaning Torso Cast Resin Sculpture - 61cm $2,90200
Description

From the waist up this resin sculpture of a torso goes sideways rather than up. The waist is narrow, the lean begins immediately above it, and by the shoulder the body is nearly horizontal, so the top of the piece sits well outside the footprint of the bottom. Its violet is pale and translucent, darkest low on the body where the resin is thickest. A shallow black marble slab carries it, and the slab is wider than the figure needs it to look.

A Body Carried Out Past Its Own Waist

A lean like this is decided on the finished object and not on paper. Each casting comes out with its own small variation, and the angle that reads as a deliberate lean rather than an accident is a narrow band: a couple of degrees short of it and the piece merely looks tilted, a couple past and it looks like a mistake. The waist is therefore ground last, with the torso standing on its own slab, and the angle is judged from across the room rather than at the bench. The slab is the other half of the answer. It is cut deliberately generous, because the piece is comfortable on it and would look uneasy on anything tighter, and its front edge is set forward under the lean rather than centred on the waist.

This one has a definite direction and it should lean into the space rather than towards a wall, so the useful positions are the end of a run, a corner it can lean out of, or a table people walk round. Keep the side it leans towards clear by a good margin. A console or a sideboard is the right surface for it. On a dark surface the marble and the violet close up into one silhouette, so a pale worktop or an oak top does more for it than a stone one.

Lean Angle, the Slab Under It and Delivery

Reckon on 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke one. The lean is set at order and can be brought back towards upright or carried further out, and it is mirrored to the other side on request. The violet runs from a pale wash to a deep aubergine, and amber, green and grey are made in the same way. A slate base and a white marble one are both made in place of this black stone, in a footprint suited to whatever lean is chosen. Any scale is cut to order. Figure and slab arrive apart in a single crate and are assembled on site without tools; the figure is lifted at the hips rather than at the shoulder. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A torso leaning far out past its own waist belongs with our classic sculptures; a body carried almost level at the shoulder leads to our abstract sculptures, and pale amethyst resin joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
