Amethyst Hunched Figure Cast Resin Sculpture, 53cm, abstract angular form in pale purple resin on a black base, plain white background.
Amethyst Hunched Figure Cast Resin Sculpture - 53cm $2,90200
Description

This cast resin figure is hunched over itself: the upper body is bowed to one side, one shoulder lifts high at the opposite corner, and a forearm is folded across the chest so it stands out from the body as a block. Below, the body spreads into two legs with a small arch of light between them. The whole piece is hewn in broad angled planes of pale amethyst resin and stands on a shallow slab of black marble that comes with it.

A Figure Bowed Over a Folded Arm

The colour runs through the resin, so it deepens where the figure is thickest, through the body and down into the legs, and pales at the thin edges of the planes. Each face is cut at an angle to its neighbours, which is what makes the figure read as hunched rather than standing tall. The arch between the legs is kept clean so light shows through it from the front. The planes are left with a broken, crystalline skin, so the light catches in them instead of sliding off, and no two castings break it in quite the same way.

At 53cm the figure is right for a wide chest or a console, where it can be met at eye level from a standing height. A hunched figure has a strong front, so turn the folded arm toward the room. Against a white wall the violet reads at its strongest, and daylight from the side catches the angled planes.

Pose, Tint Depth and Handling

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. The pose can be opened up or drawn in tighter at order, and the violet can be taken paler or nearer aubergine, or swapped for amber, green or grey. White marble and slate are cut for the base as well as this black stone. Scale is cut to order. It arrives with the slab boxed separately in one crate, needs no tools, and is a one-person carry taken round the body. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A hunched figure with a folded arm belongs with our classic sculptures; angled planes in place of modelling lead to our abstract sculptures, and amethyst resin over black marble joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
