Amber Twisted Column Resin Sculpture - 154cm, a tall twisting blade form deepening from amber to dark at the crown, set on a thin dark steel plate against a plain white background.
Amber Twisted Column Resin Sculpture - 154cm $2,90300
Description

A blade turning through its height, the amber at its deepest where the column is furthest from the hand and easing away toward the plate. Amber deepest at the crown and easing downward, so the colour gathers furthest from the hand. A dark steel plate is supplied under it, thin and a little wider than the column's foot.

Weight Put Where There Is Least of It

Putting the deepest colour at the crown asks the material to do the opposite of what gravity suggests, which is the whole reason this version of the column exists. Colour in a clear body ordinarily settles: put the strongest tint at the foot and the piece looks planted. This one is graded the other way, so a column that is physically identical top and bottom appears to be gathering substance as it goes up. Putting the deepest amber at the top of a clear body means the material is heaviest in colour where it is lightest in fact, and the column appears to be filling rather than emptying as it rises. Polished throughout, and the plate is left dark and matt so it takes no highlight from the blade.

A landing, an alcove or the end of a corridor. It takes almost no floor and rewards being seen from a distance. A pale ground behind it, so the graduation at the crown has something to be read against. Light from above pours down the inside of the twist; light from the foot does nothing for it at all. The colour gradient carries across a room, and the twist itself only resolves when you are close enough to look up it.

Running the Graduation the Other Way, and One Crate

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The graduation can be run the other way, the amber can be exchanged, and the plate can be had in stone. Run the graduation the other way and the column reads as settling, which undoes the one thing this version is for. One tall crate, the plate packed separately, and no tools are needed to marry them on site. Two people. It is light for its height, which is what makes it awkward rather than easy. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

The dark steel plate under this amber column belongs to our stainless steel sculptures; the column's colour, deepest at the crown, joins our resin sculptures, and a landing or an alcove is its place among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
