Description

This armchair's tub shell is one piece of warm amber resin: the back wraps forward into both arms and drops to the seat, with a rolled edge running the whole way round the top. It is raised on four colourless legs, so from most angles the amber body seems to hover free of the floor beneath it.

One Amber Shell From Back to Seat

The shell is one moulding, back into arms into seat, with nothing to mark where one part becomes the next. The rolled top edge is drawn out of the same body and worked round its whole run, which is the slow part: a roll that flattens at the arm fronts reads at once. The amber is in the material and gathers with the section, so the shell is deepest where the arms thicken and clearest across the back. The inside of the tub is brought to the same gloss as the outside, since a shell this colour is looked into as much as at. The four legs are cast colourless and levelled together under the shell.

At 77cm to the top of the rolled edge this is a dining or an occasional armchair and it runs in under a table like any other. The amber takes its depth from what is behind it, so a pale wall lets the shell glow and a dark one turns it to a silhouette. The clear legs disappear against most floors, which is what leaves the shell looking unsupported.

The amber is taken to another tint, the shell is brought up at the back to order, and the four legs are offered in the same amber rather than colourless. Seat width and back height are quoted to your own figures. The group is made as one so that the amber through the shell reads the same on each piece. The packing is designed round the rolled arm edge and the four legs; allow two people on arrival. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
