Amber Furled Leaf Resin Sculpture on Marble (102cm) with two spiraling, diamond-lattice textured forms shading from red-orange to clear, on a black base against a plain white background.
Amber Furled Leaf Resin Sculpture on Marble - 102cm $4,12800
Description

A cast resin sculpture of two furled forms springing from a single foot, one rising to the left and one turning across it to the right, each opening out into a flared mouth like a leaf caught part way unrolled. The entire surface is worked in a fine diamond lattice, raised rather than incised, so the light catches it in rows. The colour is graded: a deep red-orange at the foot, saturated but still glowing, amber along the edges of the rising forms, honey through the middle and clear at the edges of both flares. It stands on a squared black marble base, narrower than the piece above it.

A Lattice That Changes With Distance

The lattice is what makes the piece slow to make, and its point is that it behaves differently at different distances. Across a room it reads as a soft, glinting texture over glassy resin; from an arm away it resolves into rows of small raised diamonds, each catching a separate highlight. Getting that to work means the lattice has to follow the curve rather than being laid over it, so the pattern stretches and compresses as the form furls and no two areas carry the same spacing. On the flares, where the material is thinnest and closest to clear, the raised pattern is all that stops the edge disappearing. The amber is in the resin itself rather than applied over it, deepest at the foot and drawn up the outer edge of the climbing blade and through the curl, while the broad faces run clear.

At 102cm on its base this is a floor or low-plinth piece, and its upright habit fits places a broader sculpture cannot: beside a chair, in the return of a hall, at the foot of a stair, against a pier between windows. It should be lit from the side or slightly behind. That is the light that rakes across the lattice and lifts it; light from straight ahead washes the texture flat and leaves only the amber. Amber is also the tint that argues most with its surroundings, so it belongs near warm timber and away from a cool grey scheme, where it can look orange rather than golden.

Amber, Lattice and Bringing It In

Most pieces are standard and take 3–4 weeks; a bespoke commission takes 5–6. Colour and surface are both specified: this amber grading, a smoke, a green, a cool clear body, or a solid tint with no grading at all. The lattice can be made coarser or finer, or dropped for a smooth polished surface, which is a completely different object at the same size. The number of furls and how far each opens is drawn per piece. Marble is offered in this black, a white or a grey, and the base can be made wider for a piece intended to stand in traffic. It is lifted by the thick body at the foot, never by a flare, which is the thinnest material on the piece. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Two furled forms in amber, netted in a raised lattice and set on black marble, are gathered with our organic sculptures, our resin sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For all orders delivered worldwide, all customs duties, import taxes, and applicable local clearance fees are fully included in the purchase price. We manage and settle these charges on your behalf, ensuring you will not incur any additional fees upon arrival.

Please note that this policy excludes shipments delivered to Switzerland, as well as any individual orders where an exclusion is explicitly stated prior to purchase; in such instances, local customs charges and import taxes remain the responsibility of the customer.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
