Amber Frosted Bird in Flight Resin Sculpture, 50cm, wings raised mid-flight on a black metal rod and plate stand, plain light grey background.
Amber Frosted Bird in Flight Resin Sculpture - 50cm $2,02500
Description

A bird taken at the top of a wingbeat, both wings raised and the tail streaming, held on a slender rod above a flat plate. Amber through the whole body, strongest where the wing roots thicken and thinning away at the tips of the primaries. It comes with a dark metal stand: a rod on a flat plate.

Feathers Cut Deep Enough to Hold a Shadow

A bird in a transparent material has no plumage colour to work with, so every feather has to be cut deep enough to hold its own shadow. A bird normally arrives by colour: a wing bar, a breast, a cap. None of that is available in one amber tint, so the species is carried by the set of the wings and the length of the tail alone. Frosting an amber body means each drawn feather holds its own shadow instead of a highlight, and a bird that would disappear in polished resin stays readable at any angle. Frosted over every surface, with the feather edges left crisp rather than eased.

A desk or a bookshelf suits it, and it wants to be set with one wing toward the room rather than square on. Anything plain behind it will do. A frosted amber body carries against both a pale ground and a dark one. Light from above and slightly behind gives the raised wings their edge; light from the front flattens them into one plane. The silhouette does all the work at distance and the feather drawing only appears at about a pace.

Opening the Wings, and One Crate

Our workshops take 3–4 weeks over a standard piece and 5–6 over a bespoke commission. The wing angle can be opened, a different tint is available through the body, and the stand takes any metal finish. Open the wing angle and the plate is widened to it, since the balance point moves forward as the wings come up. One crate, the stand packed flat beneath the bird, and the two go together on site with a single fixing. One person and both hands, lifting by the body. A wing is not a handle. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A frosted amber bird at the top of a wingbeat belongs to our organic sculptures; the rod and plate it flies on join our metal sculptures, and a study is the right room for it among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
