The fish itself is small on this cast resin sculpture and sits at one end of the piece, its head and scaled body gilded. Everything else is fin: the dorsal, the tail and the anal fin run together into a single wide sheet with a torn outer edge and a few open holes, standing well above the body and reaching far back behind it. The fins run from a deep amber at the base through a clear yellow-green, and their ragged tips are gilded. The surface is left rough and faceted like broken ice rather than polished, and the whole thing rises from a small foot of the same material.
Making several fins read as one sheet is a decision that has to hold everywhere at once. Where two fins would ordinarily separate, the material carries straight through, so the joins have to be cut away rather than modelled, and the sheet then has to keep an even thickness across a span that is mostly unsupported. It is worked from the outer edge inward, because the edge is what the eye reads and the depth behind it can be adjusted afterwards. The rough surface is the other half of the job. It is not a texture applied at the end but the finish the material is taken to and then left at, which means every part of it has to be brought to the same coarseness in one pass; a patch worked smooth cannot be roughened back to match.
This wants a surface it can overhang. It runs a long way from nose to fin tip, so it needs a long clear run where the tail can carry on past the body, which means a sideboard or a shelf rather than a lamp table. Set it with the fins reading across the room rather than into it. Light through the piece is what the amber is for: a window behind it puts the grade inside the amber instead of over it, and a spot from above finds only the rough surface and stops there.
Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. Colour can follow this amber or shift to green or smoke, or be dropped for a clear, ungraded body; the gilding on the fish and the fin tips can be left off, and the rough surface can give way to a smooth polish. Fin spread is open: the sheet can be brought closer to the body for a quieter fish or opened further for a wall piece. Other sizes can be made to order. It arrives in a fitted crate with the fin sheet packed against a shaped former and nothing to assemble; take the weight under the body and never by the fin. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A gilded fighting fish trailing a wide sheet of fin belongs with our animal sculptures; a torn edge like broken ice leads to our organic sculptures, and amber grading into yellow-green joins our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
