This bench takes the waterfall form: the top continues down at both ends as full-depth legs, with no joint anywhere along the turn. A rough timber slab is encased in amber material, and its pale sapwood and bark remnants show through the outer faces, so the smooth surface outside and the broken surface inside are read at once.
The timber is dried and stabilised with its bark remnants left in place and consolidated, since it is those that show through the faces. The amber is brought up around it in stages, and the waterfall turn is the hard part: the material has to run round two right angles without pulling away from the timber at either. Every outer face is polished to a gloss so the rough inside is read through a smooth outside. The two leg ends are faced flat and brought to one plane afterwards.
It suits the end of a bed or the space under a window just as well as a hall. The timber is read through the faces, so light across it shows far more than light onto it. The waterfall form means the legs are the full depth of the seat, which leaves no space to push anything underneath.
Whether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The work is mostly the sapwood face. Three points are open. The timber is selected from what is in stock and its bark is what the section gave, so it is agreed before work starts. The amber can be run clear. The bench span and the leg drop are open figures. The show of the sapwood is common to a single order and particular to it. The two leg ends and the encased timber are padded before crating, and the bench travels on its side so nothing bears on a leg end. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Timber held in amber and turned down at both ends gives our art furniture a waterfall bench; the bark suits our organic sculptures, the amber casing our resin sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
