Amber Disc Lamp on a Steel Plinth Acrylic Sculpture, 150cm, with a glowing amber-centered disc atop a mirror-polished stainless steel column, on a plain light background.
Amber Disc Lamp on a Steel Plinth Acrylic Sculpture - 150cm $3,37500
Description

A round acrylic disc, its rim a dark amber that pales to a clear, bright centre, stands upright on a tall, square plinth of mirror-polished stainless steel. The plinth is part of the piece, and the disc lights, so its pale centre can glow like a low winter sun in a darkened room.

A Glowing Disc on a Mirror Column

The disc is graded from the edge inward, dark amber at the rim and clearing toward the middle, so even unlit it reads like a sun seen through haze. Standing it on a column of mirror-polished steel makes the support almost vanish: the plinth takes on the colours of the room around it, and the disc seems to hang in the air with nothing holding it. When the disc is lit the amber rim frames a bright centre, and the steel below picks up its warmth.

At 150cm it is a floor piece for an entrance or a reception, met at about eye level, where the disc can be seen from across the room. The mirror plinth reflects whatever is beside it, so a clear space around it shows the column at its best, and in the evening the lit disc gives a warm point of light.

The Disc, the Mirror Plinth and Delivery

In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The disc can be graded in another colour, a smoke grey, a blue or a deep red, and the steel column cut to another height or brushed instead of polished. A disc of another diameter can be made to order. The plinth and the disc travel in separate crates, the steel wrapped against marks, and two people should stand the plinth upright before the disc is seated on its top. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An amber disc held up on a polished column belongs with our geometric sculptures; the mirror plinth beneath it leads to our stainless steel sculptures, and the disc itself, cast in acrylic, joins our acrylic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
