Amber Cut Sphere on a White Marble Plinth Resin Sculpture - 156cm, swirled amber resin form on a black base atop a white and gold marble plinth, plain background.
Amber Cut Sphere on a White Marble Plinth Resin Sculpture - 156cm $4,52200
Description

An amber ball opened into a pair of scoops, carried on a black slab and the white marble plinth under that. A thin black slab sits between the ball and the marble column beneath it. The amber is warm and light where the scoops open and deepens at the rims, and the white stone under it is figured with grey and gold.

Warm Casting, Cold Stone, One Black Line

On its own black stone this is the cut at the size the pattern was drawn for, and the amber is the tint that shows it best. Amber transmits across a wider range of thicknesses than a blue or a green does before it goes opaque, so on a ball with a thick rim and a thin scooped face it holds detail at both ends instead of burning out at one. It is the reason this colour appears on more of the cut than any other, and it is a material fact rather than a preference.

This is floor work and needs open space before it, whether in an entrance, beside a staircase or across a large drawing room. At 156cm the ball rides above eye level, so the underside of each scoop is in view and the piece is read from below rather than into. The plinth needs a level floor. A plain wall behind serves it better than a patterned one, since both stone and casting are figured.

The Column, the Amber, and Delivery

Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. The amber is taken toward red, the scoops are drawn further apart, and the stone is offered at other proportions. The column is also cut at other heights, which is the change that most alters the piece, since the proportion of stone to casting is most of the design at this size. The ball itself is made at other spans on this column. It travels as three crated items and is assembled in the room: the column takes two people and a trolley, the black slab drops onto it, and the ball rests on the slab unfixed. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An amber ball carried high on figured stone belongs with our organic sculptures; amber warm in the scoops and deep at the edges leads to our resin sculptures, and a column piece for the foot of a staircase joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
