Amber Curling Wave & Gilt Shoal Resin Sculpture, 68cm, curling from deep red-amber to pale honey with gilded fish on wire loops, black marble base, white background.
Amber Curling Wave & Gilt Shoal Resin Sculpture - 68cm $1,82300
Description

Deep red-amber at its foot, this wave lifts out of a knot of rounded water, turns to warm amber as it climbs and curls right over, paling to honey and almost colourless at the crest, where it breaks into dripping fingers. Thin silver wires swing down from the crest in loose loops, and four gilded fish swim along them towards the foot. Its base is a black marble block.

Red-Amber Foot, Honey Crest, Gilded Shoal

The colour climbs in three steps. At the foot the amber is so dense it turns red, almost like glowing coals; through the long curve it is a clear, warm amber; and in the crest it thins to pale honey and then to nearly nothing, so the spray of fingers looks lit at the tips. The gilded fish pick up that warmth: set against the amber they read as gold within gold, and only against the paler crest do they stand out sharply. The wires that carry them are drawn as loose S-shaped loops rather than straight stems, so the four fish seem to travel through the wave's hollow.

At 68cm, standing on black marble, it belongs on a sideboard or a desk in a study, where the fish are at eye level for anyone sitting there. Warm amber glows against a cool grey or white wall and darkens handsomely against walnut panelling. The wire loops reach out past the block on one side, so allow a little free surface there. Indoor use only.

Amber Depth, the Fish and Delivery

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Each order brings one wave on its own block of black marble. For a commission, the amber can be run deeper through the curl or kept to the foot, its wire loops opened out or pulled in, and the fish finished in silver instead of gold; another stone can be used for the block. It is crated upright with the fish wrapped and boxed apart from the wave, and the wires are fitted into the body once the wave stands on its block. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Amber water curling over a shoal of four gilded fish on looping wire joins our organic sculptures, our metal sculptures and our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
