Amber Bowl Top Fluted Base Resin Side Table - 50cm
Amber Bowl Top Fluted Base Resin Side Table - 50cm $4,45200
Description

This cast resin side table sets an amber bowl over a fluted conical foot. Two forms sit one on the other. The upper is a hemispherical bowl, deep and glossy, its rim finished flat and its inner face dark enough to hold a reflection. Under it a conical base flares out to the floor, and its entire outer surface is cut into close vertical flutes that run from the rim of the cone down to its foot without a break. The bowl is a deep brown-amber, the base a lighter honey, and the change happens at the joint between them rather than gradually.

A Deep Bowl Over Close Vertical Flutes

Two geometries meet at a single line. Above, the bowl is a true hemisphere, deep enough to hold a shadow inside it, with its rim finished flat and level so nothing wobbles when it is set down. Below, the cone flares steadily outward and its whole surface is cut into close vertical flutes, evenly spaced and running the full height without interruption, so light comes off the base as a run of narrow bright lines and off the bowl as a single broad highlight. The colours differ across the joint as well: the bowl a deep brown-amber, the base a clear honey. Nothing tries to disguise the junction; it is simply where one thing stops and the other starts.

At 50cm it serves at seat height, with room for a lamp or a glass and a book. The flutes want light across them rather than straight down, so a position beside a window or a lamp earns more than a corner. The bowl top is dark and glossy enough to hold a reflection, so it reads as a second small mirror when seen from above. The base is wide at the floor and will not tuck under a sofa overhang. It is heavy for its size. Indoors only.

The Bowl, the Flutes, and the Order

From order, a standard piece runs to 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission to 5–6. The fluted base sets the pace here. Three things are open at order. The bowl and the base are tinted separately, so the two can be matched or deliberately contrasted. The flute pitch on the base is open, and the bowl can be supplied with a flat insert if a level surface is wanted. You name the bowl diameter and the overall height. Ask for several together if the darkness of the bowl against the base needs to agree between them. In transit the rim of the bowl is boxed away from the sides; one person to set it down. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A deep bowl over a fluted cone brings this table into our geometric sculptures; it is furniture from our art furniture, and the idiom is that of our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
