Amber & White Frosted Drapery Resin Sculpture - 86cm, flame-like draped form shifting from amber at the base to white at the crown, on a black rectangular base, plain white background.
Amber & White Frosted Drapery Resin Sculpture - 86cm $3,30700
Description

A drapery of broad folds rising and opening, amber at the foot and white by the crown, frosted over every fold. Amber at the foot rising through honey into white at the crown, with no join anywhere along the run. The broad folds overlap at the crown and part again further down, so the outline changes from every side. A small black block is supplied as its base.

A Run the Surface Has to Carry Alone

A colour run on a frosted body has to be carried by the surface alone, so the folds are drawn wide enough to give each stage of the run somewhere to sit. A polish would let this run be seen at a depth. Frosting refuses that, so the graduation happens across the face alone, and the folds are drawn wide for the single reason that each stage of the run needs its own width to sit in. A colour run through a frosted body cannot be read as depth, so the material has to carry the whole graduation on its surface, which is why the folds are drawn as wide as they are. Frosted over every fold, inside and out, with no polished face anywhere on it.

The top of a cupboard or a broad sideboard suits it, and it is best lit from behind. A dark ground behind it, since a piece that is white at the top needs something to end against. Light from behind pours up through the amber and dies at the white; light from in front gives back a flat sheet. The colour run carries across a room; the folds separate only at two or three paces.

Turning the Run Upside Down, and One Crate

Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. Ask us to reverse the run, to polish the frosting away, or to open the fold count. Reverse the run and the piece looks as though it is sinking into its own foot rather than rising out of it. Of the three things offered here the run is the one that changes the object rather than adjusting it, because the direction a graduation travels is what tells a viewer whether the piece is rising out of its foot or sinking into it. One crate, standing, and it is lifted straight out onto its place. Two people. It is broad at the crown and the folds are thin there. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A frosted drapery that pales from amber upward leads to our organic sculptures; the frosted casting joins our resin sculptures, and light from behind shows its run among our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
