Amber & Cream Arched Upright Resin Sculpture - 140cm, a tall curved form paling from amber to cream, on a black marble block, shown against a plain light background.
Amber & Cream Arched Upright Resin Sculpture - 140cm $3,37100
Description

An upright that rises, arches and flares, standing on a block deep enough to be read as part of the piece rather than as something underneath it. Amber holds the foot and lightens to cream through the upper body, so the piece pales as it rises. A black marble block is supplied, deep enough to lift the amber well clear of the floor.

Colour That Follows the Thickness

At this height it is floor work, and the graduation from amber to cream is doing what the marbling does on the other two: giving the eye a reason to travel the whole height. Nothing is drawn to make the change from amber to cream: it follows where there is more material and where there is less, so the graduation and the form are one fact. Amber gets darker the more material there is, so the graduation follows the thickness without being drawn. Polished on every face, and the cream at the top only reads because there is nothing on the surface to interrupt it.

A hall, a landing, or the far corner of a long room with nothing beside it. A dark ground makes the amber glow and a pale one washes the cream out, so the wall has to be chosen for one end or the other. Light from behind fills the foot with amber; from the front the piece reads cream all over. It reads as a warm vertical from a long way off, and the change from amber to cream resolves at about three paces.

Carrying the Amber Higher, and Delivery

Ordinarily a standard piece needs 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The amber is carried further up, the cream is taken to white, and a shallower block is cut. Carry the amber further up and the block has to be cut shallower, or the whole piece reads bottom-heavy. The block goes down and is levelled, and the casting is set on it afterwards with nothing fixing the two. Two people, both hands well below the arch. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

An arched upright that pales from amber to cream belongs with our organic sculptures; the tall casting sits among our resin sculptures, and more upright work for a landing is in our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
