Angel Statues & Sculptures

The angel is the one figure in Western sculpture that carries meaning without needing explanation. It reads as protection, remembrance and grace at once, which is why it has stood in gardens, chapels and cemeteries for six hundred years and why it is still the most requested memorial subject we make.

Seven in ten pieces here are carved in real quarried marble, the material the tradition is built on, with the remainder cast in bronze. Marble is the reason the drapery and the feathering work: it holds an edge fine enough for individual pinions and lets light travel into the surface so the stone reads as cloth rather than rock. Every piece is carved or cast by hand, so no two are identical.

The range covers the full tradition. Standing and kneeling angels, weeping and mourning figures, guardians with drawn swords, angels in prayer, winged children and cherubs, and angels set within fountains and water features.
