Yellow Arched Back Fluted Cast Resin Chair - 86cm $4,05200
Description

This chair is made of two plain forms in translucent yellow resin. The seat is a solid block of close vertical flutes, like a bundle of rods pressed together, and from its back edge rises a tall arch, a flat band scored with three lines that follow its curve and open at the centre. The yellow is clear and golden, and it deepens where the flutes turn over at the seat.

A Fluted Seat Under an Open Arch

The chair is built from two ideas and nothing else, a fluted block and an arch, and each is as plain as it can be made. The flutes run the full height of the seat and turn over its top edge, which softens the seat to sit on and gives the block its rhythm of light and shade. The arch is flat and open, so it reads as a drawn line from the front and as a thin band from the side. In clear golden resin the whole chair catches light like honey, and the flutes shine along their length.

It works as an occasional chair in a living room, a bedroom or a hall, or as a set around a dining table, and it is striking against a pale wall or a window. Daylight from behind makes the yellow glow and the flutes shine, and on a dark floor it reads as a block of gold. It is compact enough to stand in a corner or beside a desk. From across a room the arch is the shape you see; close to, it is the flutes.

Yellow or Amber, and a Set for the Table

Plan for 3–4 weeks on a standard piece and 5–6 weeks on a bespoke commission. It is made in this golden yellow or in a deeper amber, and it can be tinted another colour or given a frosted finish; a set for a dining table can be ordered in one colour or in several. A frosted finish softens the flutes and makes the colour milkier. It arrives well wrapped in its own crate and can be carried into the room without help. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A chair built from a fluted block and an open arch is seating for our art furniture; its golden yellow tint belongs among our resin sculptures, and the plainness of both shapes ties it to our geometric sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
