Across this bench runs a frosted slab, torn to an irregular edge on both long sides. Worked into its upper face are two kinds of relief: broad ripples running across the width, and two vortices that turn down into the mass like water leaving a drain. A small rock stands on the surface near one end. Two plinths carry it, each cast as a rough black mass with the split faces and sharp arrises of broken stone.
Two kinds of relief on one slab, and they do different work. Broad ripples run across the width, shallow and continuous, and they read as surface. Two vortices turn down into the mass like water leaving a drain, and they read as depth - the eye follows them into the material rather than across it. The torn edge on both long sides keeps the slab from looking machined. Against all of that the plinths are opaque, matt black and broken into flat faces with sharp arrises, the geometry of split stone. The small rock standing on the surface near one end is what joins the two languages: it puts the black form above the frosted plane as well as beneath it.
It works as a bench or a serving surface, and it needs plenty of clear floor along its length. Both plinths need level floor. The vortices read from above and the torn edge from the side, so a position people pass and look down on gets both. A plain floor is essential: pattern comes straight through the slab and the ripples lose their separation. Very heavy, arrives in parts. Indoors.
Expect 3–4 weeks for a standard piece and 5–6 weeks where the commission is bespoke. Most of it is the vortex relief. Three things are settled at order. You name the length, the slab comes clear as well as frosted, and the plinths can be finished in a grey or a warm stone tone. Whether the small rock stands on the surface is your choice. The overall length and the top thickness are open figures. Buy them at once for the shape of the two plinths to agree, or separately and accept it will not. The crate holds the torn slab edge and the rock on top of it away from every face, and four people bring it in. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Vortices cut into a frosted slab on black rock forms bind this bench to our fibreglass sculptures; laid out for serving it belongs to our art furniture, and the slab's frozen whirlpools suit our contemporary and modern sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
