The Traditional Lying Hare Bronze Sculpture captures a life-size hare at rest, body low and long ears folded back along the spine, head turned with the quiet alertness of a creature that has simply paused in the grass. At 25cm, the scale is intimate and true to nature.
Cast using the traditional lost-wax method, this solid bronze hare sculpture is finished entirely by hand. The surface carries a warm brown patina that deepens in the recessed fur lines and lifts to a soft, polished sheen on the raised contours of the haunches, shoulders, and folded ears. Every strand of fur texture, the curve of each ear, and the subtle modelling of the eye have been worked with care at the finishing stage, producing a piece that rewards close attention as much as it commands a room or garden.
The bronze lying rabbit statue suits a wide range of settings. Indoors, it reads beautifully on a mantelpiece, console table, or library shelf, particularly against natural stone, dark timber, or neutral linen. Outdoors, the patina weathers gracefully and the low, grounded silhouette sits naturally among planting, on a garden bench, or tucked at the base of a stone wall. The piece carries equal conviction in either context.
We offer a range of patina finishes, from the warm mid-brown shown here to darker antique tones or a lighter natural bronze. The sculpture can also be produced at a larger scale as a bespoke commission. If you would like to discuss a different finish, a size variation, or a commission inspired by a specific hare pose or setting, contact us before ordering and we will advise on the most suitable approach.
