Teal Slab Acrylic Bench on Chrome Cylinders, 200cm, with a mirrored cylinder resting atop one end, shown on a plain white background.
Teal Slab Acrylic Bench on Chrome Cylinders - 200cm $7,62800
Description

The seat of this bench is a thick slab of teal acrylic standing on four upright chromed cylinders, two under each end. At one end the pair passes up into the slab, so their tops show through the teal as two bright discs set into the seat; at the other a fifth cylinder lies across the top like a bolster, polished to the same mirror as the legs. It is a perching height rather than a chair height.

Chrome Cylinders Rising Into a Teal Slab

Setting a cylinder into a slab so that its end reads as a clean disc in the seat is an exercise in fit: the housing is machined to the cylinder's own diameter and depth, and the chrome end is cut square and polished before it goes in, since any gap shows through clear teal as a dark ring. The cylinder laid across the far end is turned and plated with the legs so that all five hold one tone, and it is seated on the slab along its whole length rather than at a point. The slab itself is cast thick enough for its colour to deepen at the cut edges.

A bench at perching height is useful where people wait: an entrance, a landing, the end of a corridor, a dressing room. The two bright discs in the top and the cylinder across the end are the details worth walking up to, so leave the bench approachable rather than against a wall along its whole length. Teal reads cool against warm timber and disappears against a blue wall, which is worth thinking about before choosing a position.

Cylinder Finish, Slab Tint and Setting It Out

Whether it is standard or bespoke sets the build: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. The cylinders are offered in chrome, brushed steel, a brass finish or a black coating, and the one across the end can be left off for a plain slab. The teal is offered as a clear, a smoke, an amber or a green, and slab thickness is open. The bench is made to the length and the seat height you give at order. It travels assembled in a crate, since the legs are set into the slab, and it is a three-person lift. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Chrome discs set into a teal seat belong with our acrylic sculptures; four upright cylinders beneath the teal lead to our geometric sculptures, and a perch for a dressing room or a landing joins our indoor sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
