This stool is a drum of clear resin whose outer wall is worked into a torn, cave-like relief and pierced all round by irregular openings of many sizes, the broadest wide enough to look straight through the drum. A round upholstered pad in teal sits on top, and its deeper teal underside drops down into the drum, so the colour shows through the openings as well as above them.
Every torn edge on the wall is shaped by hand for the mould, so the openings follow the maker's hand rather than a repeating pattern and vary in size and outline all round the drum. Casting round so many voids of different sizes sets the schedule, because the resin must keep a steady thickness through the narrow bridges between them, and every opening has to be polished inside as well as on the outer face. The pad is made to the drum and dropped in after the body is finished.
At 55cm this is above ordinary stool height, which puts it at a console, a dressing table or the end of a kitchen island rather than under a dining table. It works as occasional seating in a bedroom or a dressing room, and it can be left as a stand for a bowl or a plant where the openings are worth seeing through.
In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. Most of it is the pierced wall. Three choices are open. The wall can be pierced more sparingly or more densely, the pad can take a velvet or a fabric of your own, and the drum can carry a tint that echoes the colour of the pad. Both the seat diameter and the overall height are yours to set. Ask for several together if the pattern of openings needs to agree between them. The crate is built around the pierced wall and the pad edge, and two people should carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Teal velvet over a torn clear drum places this stool among our art furniture; its pierced wall speaks the language of our contemporary and modern sculptures, and it is gathered too with our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
