Teal Matt Single-Pierced Body Resin Sculpture - 32cm, a rounded geometric form with a teardrop opening, shown on a plain light grey background.
Teal Matt Single-Pierced Body Resin Sculpture - 32cm $1,75400
Description

A softly faceted rounded body in matt teal resin, pierced once by a teardrop opening near its middle, with the point of the drop turned up towards one shoulder. Two broad facets meet in a soft ridge across the top. One teal holds the whole body, deepening across that shoulder and along the foot. Nothing at all comes under it; the body sits on its own flattened underside.

One Opening and Nothing Else

A single opening through a rounded mass is an unforgiving thing to make, because a form with no other detail gives a fault nowhere to sit. The wall around the opening is held to one thickness right round, which is what stops the hole looking punched, and the faceting is soft enough to read as a swelling rather than as a cut. The wall has to close round the opening and meet again without a mark, which is the one thing a cast material must get right here. Matt everywhere, so the body reads as a solid and the opening reads as an absence in it.

A desk or a bedside, where it can be turned by hand. The opening will frame whatever stands behind it, so that is worth choosing deliberately. Under soft light it is one teal mass; under a hard light the opening prints a shadow on the surface beside it. From across a room the opening is the only thing that reads, and the faceting is invisible until you are close.

Enlarging the Opening, and Delivery

Work on a bespoke commission runs to 5–6 weeks, on a standard piece to 3–4. The opening is drawn rounder or wider, the teal is taken towards a deeper blue or a truer green, and the surface is brought to a polish. Enlarge the opening and the body is redrawn around it, because the wall has to stay even all the way round. One piece in a fitted crate, packed with the opening supported, and it is set down wherever it is wanted with nothing to do to it. It is moved with the body cradled from beneath, and never by a hand hooked through the opening. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A matt teal body pierced by a single teardrop sits with our indoor sculptures, our contemporary and modern sculptures and our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
