A torus frosted the whole way over, its rounded body cut right through by one broad, egg-shaped opening that narrows towards the top. A crisp folded edge runs down each side, one of them climbing to a peak at the top, while the rim of the opening itself is rounded smooth. The frost is even over the whole surface. Teal holds at the outer wall and pales almost to white as it turns inward. Nothing is supplied beneath it: the torus meets the surface along one short run of its outer wall.
A pierced volume of this kind is a demanding form to finish evenly, because the surface turns through every angle between the outer wall, the two folded edges and the aperture, and a frost has to hold its grain across all of it. Any variation shows as a band. The colour is set to work with that rather than against it: it is strongest on the outside and pales as the surface turns inward, so the frost is carrying a deliberate change and a small unevenness in it has somewhere to hide. On a flat tint the same surface would have to be perfect.
Rising 75cm, it wants a console, a low plinth or the end of a long sideboard, set so the aperture has something worth framing behind it. With a window beyond it the piece works; against a blank wall the opening does nothing at all. It rests on a small area of the outer wall and wants a level place to sit. One broad opening through a rounded body means the piece frames whatever is behind it, and turning it a few degrees changes what that is.
In the workshop a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks and a bespoke commission 5–6. The opening is drawn rounder or narrower, one face is brought to a full polish, and the tint is pushed toward a colder cast. The torus is cast at other diameters, and the opening is drawn to the same proportion of the wall. A narrower opening makes the piece read as a solid with a hole and a wider one as a ring, so the proportion is worth settling before the casting. Polishing one face clear gives the aperture a bright edge the frost withholds. It ships in one crate bedded around the outer wall, and two people should place it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A rounded torus is indoor sculpture for a hall; a volume with a hole through it is contemporary sculpture; and the frost sits over resin sculpture.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
