Description

This cast resin dining chair is a single shell in which the back, the two low arms and the shallow seat run into one another without a seam. Below it four slim legs taper gently to the floor. The resin is a smoke tint, so the shell reads a warm grey-brown where you look through the greatest depth of it at the arm joins and much paler across the open span of the back. Nothing on the chair is opaque.

One Smoked Shell on Four Slim Legs

This is a quiet chair and it is built to be. The shell is one piece with no join on any outer face: a squared back with softly rounded top corners, two low arms, and a shallow dished seat between them. The legs are slim and taper gently, which at this scale is a harder section to hold than a thick one. The smoke tint sits in the material and follows the geometry exactly: warm grey-brown at the arm joins, much paler across the open span of the back. Nothing on the chair is opaque, so it holds its shape against a pale wall and nearly vanishes against a dark one.

At 86cm it slips under a dining table, and being quiet in form it suits a room that already has a strong object in it. The smoke tint needs a pale background to separate from; against a dark wall it reads as a silhouette. The shell is the same colour right through, so a scuff on an arris does not show a different material underneath. Indoors.

The Shell, the Tint, and the Order

Lead times run 5–6 weeks bespoke and 3–4 standard. The smoked shell is the slow part. There are three open questions. The smoke can be replaced with another tint or left clear, the arms can be brought up or set further apart, and the leg section is open within limits. The seat height is settled at order. The seat height and the overall height are open figures. The group is made as one so that the depth of the smoke in the shell reads the same on each piece. The two arm tops and the leg ends must go in padded, and two people are needed to place it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
