Red Raised-Claw Crab Cast Resin Sculpture, 90cm, front view with raised pincers and spread jointed legs in translucent red, on a plain white background.
Red Raised-Claw Crab Cast Resin Sculpture - 90cm $5,33200
Description

The crab in this cast resin sculpture is set upright, its broad shell facing out and both claws raised above it, the pincers curled in. Its eight jointed legs are stacked down either side of the body, four to a side, reaching out level. The shell carries the animal's own ridges and hollows, and the whole piece is a deep translucent red that goes almost black through the body and lights up in the thin sections of the legs. A short threaded stud below the shell is part of the piece; no base is supplied.

A Crab Turned Upright to Face the Room

Setting a crab upright turns its legs into horizontal reaches, four to each side, and every one of them is carried from the body alone. Every leg bends three times along its length, so the sections are kept fuller near the shell and drawn out towards the tips, and opposite legs are cut as pairs so the animal stays symmetrical about its own axis. The claws are the other exacting passage: they rise above the shell, which puts their weight high, so the shoulders behind them are cut fuller than the animal's own and the pincers are hollowed from behind to take mass out where it does the most harm.

Upright, this crab is read face on rather than looked down on, so it wants to meet the eye. It needs clear space either side, because the legs and claws are the outline. A window behind it lights the legs from within and the shell stays dark, which is the best of it; under a downlight the whole animal reads as one flat colour.

The Red, the Claws and Getting It Home

Give it 3–4 weeks as a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks as a bespoke commission. Colour is settled at order in this red, in an amber, in a green or in a colourless body, or as a solid opaque crab where the light should not come through. The claws are made raised as here or held out level, and the legs can be tucked in nearer the shell. Other sizes are cut to order. It arrives in one fitted crate with every leg supported along its length and the claws cased apart; lift it under the shell with both hands. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A crab rearing upright with its claws raised belongs with our animal sculptures; a shell turned to face the room leads to our contemporary and modern sculptures, and red going almost black at the body joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
