A rounded square ribbed across its whole face makes the top of this side table, so the surface reads as a run of close parallel lines. It sits on two side panels ribbed the same way, and those panels are tied to each other by three stretchers running between them below the top, which is what makes the frame read as a U from either side. The red is strongest at the top and clears toward the floor.
Ribbing a top and its side panels to the same pitch means the ribs have to meet at the corner, and that is the detail that decides whether the piece looks made or assembled: a rib arriving half a pitch out at the junction is visible from across a room. The top is ribbed across its width and the panels down their height, so the two runs cross at right angles and the corner is worked by hand until each rib finds its neighbour. The stretchers are let into both panels rather than butted against them, since a butted stretcher in acrylic shows its glue line. The grade is laid in at the cast, which is why it survives the ribbing.
A ribbed top scatters light instead of reflecting it, so this is the acrylic side table that will sit beside a window without throwing a glare into the room. At 52cm it sits a little above a chair arm, which suits a reading chair or a corner where you want a surface you can see without leaning. The three stretchers make the underside part of the object, so it reads better out from a wall than pushed against one.
Count on the difference between standard and bespoke: 3–4 weeks or 5–6. Rib pitch is set at order and can be opened to a broad flute or closed to a fine reed, and the top is offered plain with only the panels ribbed. Stretcher count is open - three is the balance we would choose, but one or five work and their height is set at order. The red can be run from the floor upward instead, taken through an amber, a green or a smoke, or left out. Size is made to your own dimensions. It arrives assembled in a crate and is a two-person carry, and where several are wanted they are tinted in the same run so they answer each other. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
Ribs that meet at every corner belong with our acrylic sculptures; a U-frame tied by three stretchers leads to our art furniture, and a reading-chair table by a bright window joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
