Red Feather-Cut Swan Pair on Lit Bases, 52cm, resin swans in translucent red with combed feather texture, one neck raised and one lowered, on a white acrylic base against a plain light background.
Red Feather-Cut Swan Pair on Lit Bases - 52cm $2,56400
Description

This resin sculpture is a pair of swans, sold together. Both are the same saturated translucent red with long feather lines combed over the breast and the flank, and the difference between them is the neck: one carries it up and forward, the other curves it down and back until the beak is level with the body. Each bird stands on its own matt acrylic base, and those bases are light boxes, so the colour is lit from underneath rather than only from the room.

A Pair That Must Not Be Two of the Same Thing

A pair is a harder commission than a single bird, because two objects that are nearly the same invite the eye to compare them and any difference that was not intended reads as a fault. The two necks are therefore cut against each other rather than to a drawing, and the feather lines are combed at the same spacing on both so that the surfaces match even where the poses do not. The lines themselves are the slow part: they run from the breast over the shoulder and out to the tail, following a surface that turns twice on the way, and they are cut in one pass each because a line picked up again shows a join. The bases are made to the same footprint so the two birds stand at one height.

These are a mantel, console and sideboard pair rather than floor pieces, and they want to be set with the two necks turned toward each other so the shapes answer. Leave a clear gap between them: pushed together they read as one object with two heads. The bases need a socket within reach and the flex has to go somewhere, so a surface against a wall suits them better than an island. With the light on, the red goes deep and the feather lines pick up as darker threads.

Colour, Light and What Arrives

As standard the build runs 3–4 weeks, and as a bespoke commission 5–6. The pair is offered in this red, in an amber, in a green or in a colourless body, and one bird alone can be ordered where a single is wanted. Each base comes lit, or it can be made in plain matt acrylic with no fitting, or in clear acrylic instead of matt. Neck positions are settled at order and any scale is cut to order. The two birds and the two bases arrive in one crate, each bird cased separately with the neck supported; lift a bird by the body, never by the neck, and seat it on its base afterwards. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A pair of swans with necks raised and bowed belongs with our bird sculptures; feathering raked across each body leads to our animal sculptures, and light boxes of matt acrylic join our acrylic sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
