The base of this side table is three curved lobes joined in one plated form, each rising straight from the floor to the underside of the top, and every face of it is mirror-electroplated. The plating reads copper where it faces the floor and almost black where it turns away, so the base changes colour as you walk round it. Above it sits a translucent red disc, its rim rounded over.
Electroplating a compound curve is where this piece is won or lost. A mirror finish records every flaw in the substrate underneath it and magnifies it, so the three lobes have to be brought to a polish before any metal goes on, and a curve that changes direction twice has no flat to work from. The three are then plated together in one go, because a plating bath does not repeat exactly between runs and three lobes from three runs would read as three colours. The disc is cast separately in a red deep enough to hold its colour against the metal without going opaque, and its underside is polished so the plating shows through it.
A base that changes colour as you move wants to be walked round, so stand it away from the wall: alongside a chair, where a sofa run finishes, or out in the middle of a small room. At 46cm the disc sits at seat height. A pale floor throws light up into the plating and keeps the copper reading; over a dark floor the base closes to near-black and only the red disc registers. Keep the plated faces clear of a skirting.
Every standard piece is made in 3–4 weeks, and every bespoke commission in 5–6. The plating is offered in other finishes, including a bright chrome and a darker gunmetal, and the disc is offered in a paler red, a deeper one or colourless. Disc size is cut to order and can be run out well past the lobes or brought in tight to them. The lobe count can be taken to four. Base and disc travel separately and the disc is set on last, which keeps a plated surface out of a stairwell under a load. The base is a two-person lift and every plated face travels sleeved, since a mirror finish shows a fingerprint let alone a scuff. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.
A translucent red disc with a rounded rim belongs with our acrylic sculptures; plated lobes that shift from copper to near black lead to our stainless steel sculptures, and a table to stand free in the middle of a sitting room joins our indoor sculptures.

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.
Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.
Production time is separate from delivery time.
Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.
Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.
All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.
Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.
For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.
Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.
For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.
If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.
Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.
To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.
Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:
Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.
This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
If you have questions about shipping, customs, delivery timing, or anything else before you order, our team is here to help. Contact us via WhatsApp, email, or phone, and we'll respond within 24 hours.
