Red & Clear Crossed Block Resin Sculpture, 47cm, two angled red resin blocks joined by a clear colourless section, shown on a plain white background.
Red & Clear Crossed Block Resin Sculpture - 47cm $2,36200
Description

An upright block with a second set across it at an angle, the two joined through a section left colourless between them. Red through both blocks, with the section between them left colourless. The foot is cut flat and nothing comes underneath it, so it stands straight on the surface it is given.

A Lean Held by What Is Not There

The clear section is doing the work and looking like it is doing none: it reads as air between two solids, so the upper block appears to rest on nothing. Tint it and the piece becomes three blocks instead of two. The mass is what carries the contrast: a red block reads as a solid and the clear section between them reads as air, and both are the same body. Polished on every face and every arris, with the corners left sharp rather than eased.

A desk or a bookshelf suits it, turned so the upper block leans into the room. Set it against a pale ground, so the clear section between the blocks reads as a gap. Light from one side throws the upper block's shadow across the one beneath it, which is what makes the lean legible. The lean reads from across a room; the clear join is a near fact and nothing else is.

Another Angle, and Nothing to Assemble

Reckon on 3–4 weeks for a standard piece, or 5–6 weeks for a bespoke one. On request the upper block is set at another angle, the red is exchanged, or the whole is made at another height. Set the upper block at another angle and the clear section is redrawn to carry it, since that section is what holds the lean. A single crate, and it is out of it and standing in a moment. One person, and the only surprise is how heavy a block of this size is. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Two red blocks joined through a clear section stand in our indoor sculptures; their crossed geometry suits our contemporary and modern sculptures, and its clear join belongs with our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
