Description

A cast dining chair in two contrasting parts. Its back is one broad band of translucent red resin that rises from the seat at each side, sweeps up and over in a continuous arch and comes back down, leaving an open hoop to lean against. Everything below is black: a thin, flat seat with a matt top, and four slender legs running down from its corners and tapering as they go.

A Translucent Red Hoop Over a Black Frame

The chair works by contrast. The red is translucent, a warm coral where the band is thin across the top and a deeper scarlet down the sides, where the curve turns and the eye travels through more resin, and faint flow lines show inside it from the casting. The black frame is opaque and quiet, so the red band seems to hover above it. Band and frame meet at a clean line on each side of the seat, with no fixing in view. Below, the legs are square where they leave the seat and soften to a round section as they reach the floor.

With its hoop rising to 75cm and the seat at dining height, it is a working chair for a dining table, a kitchen table or a desk. From behind, the red arch reads as a shape in its own right, so it stands well alone in a hall or at the head of a table. Against a white wall the band glows, and on a dark floor the black frame all but disappears. Indoors only.

Where the Colour Stops, and the Mould This Comes From

Order a standard piece and it takes 3–4 weeks; order it bespoke and it takes 5–6. The mould for this chair already exists, so work starts as soon as the order is placed. Two choices are open. The colour of the back, which can be this red, an amber, a blue, a white or colourless clear resin. And the frame, kept black or given a colour of its own, so the chair reads in one tone or in two. Seat height and overall height follow your own figures, and a set is cast together so the reds match. Every chair has a crate to itself and needs nothing doing to it when it lands, and one person can carry it. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
