Purple Standing Figure Resin Sculpture - 207cm, a translucent violet female figure with swept-back hair and flowing drapery on a black marble base, shown against a plain white background.
Purple Standing Figure Resin Sculpture - 207cm $14,78300
Description

The figure stands with the weight on one leg and the hair swept back, the drapery falling in long folds to the stone beneath. Pale violet through the whole body, deepest in the drapery and clearest across the shoulders. The head is tipped back, as if into the wind. A shallow block of black marble is included.

Hair and Drapery Worked to Two Different Grades

Hair and drapery are worked to different grades on purpose: the hair is cut fine enough to hold a shadow at arm's length, and the folds are kept broad enough to carry from the far end of a room. A figure that will be seen at both of those distances has to do two things at once, and one grade cannot. A figure this size in a clear body is read through rather than at: the drapery behind the standing leg is visible through it, which is what keeps a casting this tall from reading as bulk. The figure is polished throughout, with the hair left finely worked.

Floor work for an entrance, with two or three approaches to it rather than one. A dark ground at its back, so a pale violet body has an outline at all. One source high and to the front models the drapery; light from behind flattens the figure into a silhouette. The figure is known from the door and the drapery only resolves within a few paces.

Another Height, Another Stone, and a Trolley

Making a standard piece takes 3–4 weeks, and making a bespoke one 5–6. Say the word and the figure is worked at another height, the violet is changed, or a different stone goes beneath it. Set it at another height and every fold is drawn afresh, since a fold keeps its own size whatever the figure does. The marble is bedded and checked for level before the figure comes out of its crate. Four people and a trolley, and the figure never leaves the vertical. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops.

A violet figure with its hair swept back stands in our indoor sculptures; its long, simple drapery belongs with our contemporary and modern sculptures, and the violet held through the body joins our resin sculptures.

Shipping & Returns

Almost every sculpture at Giant Sculptures is handmade to order, then shipped worldwide free of charge. Below is everything you need to know before you order, and what to expect after.

Production Time

Almost every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of size or destination. Standard delivery is by sea freight, typically 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

Express air freight is available on request at additional cost, with delivery in up to 10 days. Ask us before placing your order, or straight after, and we will confirm the cost for your destination.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

If you have questions about customs for your specific country, contact us before ordering and we can advise on typical charges for your region.

Returns

Where an order qualifies, we accept returns within 14 days of receipt, in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

Because our sculptures are made individually, most orders do not qualify. Returns do not apply to any item that is not held in stock, is made to order, or is custom or bespoke.

To check whether your order qualifies, contact us within 14 days of receipt. On a qualifying return, return shipping is at the customer's cost, a 25% restocking fee applies, and original shipping charges are not refunded.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
