Description

A European lion is shown in full profile mid-stride, the body stretched and muscled, the head turned out toward the viewer with the mouth open, and the tail carried up and over the back. The mane falls in long flowing locks and the animal stands on a thin irregular rock-cut slab.

A Lion Carved Mid Stride in Profile

Walking is the hardest thing to carve in a quadruped, because three feet are down and one is lifted and the whole weight has to look as though it is moving forward rather than standing still. The lifted foreleg is left joined to the slab by a spur of waste stone through the entire carving and cut free at the very end. The tail carried over the back is the other risk: it stands clear on both sides and is the last stone touched.

This is a long piece rather than a tall one, so it wants length in front of it: a border run, a terrace, a lawn edge, the side of a path where it can be seen along its own axis. Face on it loses most of what it is. The turned head means it can be set side-on to the viewer and still meet the eye. A level bed is enough for a slab base.

A Long Piece That Needs Length

Twelve weeks. The slab is cut and the body roughed standing on it, with the lifted foreleg supported by waste stone until everything else is finished. The mane is worked down the shoulder and the tail freed last of all. Nothing on this piece is pinned or jointed - it comes from one block. Our main studios are in the UK (Birmingham) and Dubai, with additional global workshops. Just over a tonne in one piece, lifted with a small gantry and set on a level bed.

Moving animal figures are in animal sculptures, with the rest under wildlife sculptures.

Production Time

Every sculpture is handmade to order by our artisans — we do not mass-produce.

  • Standard sculptures: approximately 3–4 weeks from order confirmation.
  • Bespoke commissions (custom sizes, finishes, or fully custom designs): approximately 5–6 weeks from design sign-off.

Production time is separate from delivery time.

Free Worldwide Shipping

Shipping is free worldwide on every sculpture, regardless of destination.

  • Sculptures under 50cm — shipped by air freight. Typical delivery 1–2 weeks after production is complete.
  • Sculptures 50cm and above — shipped by sea freight. Typical delivery 6–8 weeks after production is complete.

For larger sculptures where faster delivery is needed, air freight is available at additional cost — contact us before ordering for a quote.

All sculptures ship in reinforced protective crating, fully insured to purchase value.

Delivery to Your Address

Delivery is to the door or curbside at your shipping address.

For larger sculptures shipped by sea freight, the carrier will contact you in advance to arrange a delivery window. Please ensure someone is available to accept the delivery and that the property has suitable access for the size of the piece.

Once the sculpture arrives, you are responsible for positioning it in its final display location. For larger or heavier pieces, we recommend arranging two people (family, friends, or a local moving service) to help with placement.

International Orders & Customs

For orders shipping outside the United Kingdom, any customs duties, import taxes, or local fees at your destination country are the responsibility of the customer. These charges are set by your local authority and are not included in our shipping cost.

30-Day Returns

We accept 30-day returns on sculptures in original condition and original packaging, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

To start a return, contact us within 30 days of receipt. Return shipping for change-of-mind returns is at the customer's cost.

Bespoke and custom-commissioned pieces are non-refundable once production has started, as they are made specifically to your specification.

Damage in Transit

Every sculpture ships fully insured. In the unlikely event of damage during transit:

  1. Report the damage within 48 hours of delivery.
  2. Provide clear photographs of both the damage and the packaging.
  3. We arrange collection and either replacement or full refund at no cost to you.

Lifetime Guarantee

Every sculpture carries a lifetime guarantee against finish defects under normal display conditions, subject to our Terms & Conditions.

This covers manufacturing defects, premature finish degradation, and structural failures under normal display. It does not cover damage caused by accidents, misuse, inappropriate environments (for example, an indoor-only sculpture placed outdoors), or modifications made after delivery.
